My Sister Beth
What is it that makes Beth Moore, famous Christian author and speaker so appealing? Besides the given that she is attractive, vivacious, sincere and gutsy about her faith in God, for me it is because she has found it. She is in the front of the line when it comes to experiencing God. She has found the Bread of life, and we are all hungry. I have heard that in Russia people wait for groceries from trucks in the icy cold breath of a morning, standing outside grocers' doors waiting on bread or whatever may be on the truck. They don't even know what they are waiting for, but they are HUNGRY and they know it will be good and they KNOW that it will be FOOD. Same thing when I pick up Beth's books, any of them. She is so honest about her own struggles that thousands of women, maybe more, identify with not only who she is, but who she was! And we are so curious!!! Just like the latest haircut, the latest dress, or when you are older the latest cuisine at a new restaurant (food having taken over where vanity ruled as number one before for most of us), we want IN!!! Depression, anxiety and all the physical and emotional ills that go with it have hit record highs, not just in teens, tweens and children, but in adults of all ages. I can't GET IN to see my family physician, she is so booked up on a daily basis!!!! We are looking for the same thing - an answer to life's crises. And it is not IF they will come, it is WHEN they come and boy do they ever in all shapes and sizes. And then ---- I pick up Beth's latest book, and it gives me HOPE, and it gives me ANSWERS, and I can breathe again. And I am so thankful that I can call Beth my sister, my sister in Christ. You go, Beth, go, go ahead of me in line and feast on all that Jesus has to offer because I know that you will turn around and pass it back to those behind you like me who are HUNGRY for the Bread of Life - Jesus Christ Himself.
